Mike McGuire Named Official BMO Vancouver Marathon Blogger!

January 13, 2013

As announced on Episode 4 of The Mike McGuire Podcast, earlier this week, Mike was offered the chance to offer a very different perspective on endurance running, and share his love of the BMO Vancouver Marathon - the event which he will be challenging for the second time in hopes of raising $10,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!

The 2013 BMO will be Mike's tenth endurance running challenge, one which doesn't come without some compelling and interesting stories along the way.  From taking the challenge of being an overweight person, to the discovery of a dangerous heart condition, in some cases, training has been the least of his concern!

Follow the story and look for new posts starting January 16!

ALBERTA, CANADA - 3 years ago, Mike McGuire was approached by The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada to be a part of "Team in Training", an endurance-sports program which  raises money for research and patient care for those affected by blood cancers.

In June of 2010, he finished his first half-marathon and since then, through some major health issues of his own, has continued running, and continued supporting the cause.

Today, in between his duties as Program Director for the the new radio station, 93.1 The One launching soon in Leduc Alberta, as well as on-field game host for The Edmonton Rush Lacrosse Club and webisode host for TopCountry.ca and even his own podcast at mikeonamonday.com, McGuire has once again commited his time and energy to the cause.

On May 5, 2013, Mike McGuire will be wearing the Team in Training Purple Shirt in the 42.2 KM BMO Vancouver Marathon, an event to which holds a special place in his heart.  As this will be his 10th registered half or full Marathon, McGuire hopes to raise $10,000 for the cause.

Mike McGuire Announces Exciting New Ventures!

November 16, 2012

After 8 years at one of Canada's premiere radio stations, Mike McGuire has found himself a part of 3 very different and VERY exciting organizations.

Already contributing to Canada's country music news site, www.TopCountry.ca, McGuire recently announced that he will be the Program Director and Morning Show Host for Leduc Alberta's new country station, 93.1 THE ONE, which is scheduled to launch in 2013.

“Honoured doesn’t even begin to describe the feeling.  To have the chance to be a part of something special, to such an integral Alberta community… it’s really overwhelming.  This is a chance for all of us to take radio back to what made it magic; local content, grass-roots, and independent… it’s a thrill, and we haven’t even cracked the mics yet!
